We're resisting the urge to say we have some sweet card tricks this
month, to go along with effects using a Pez dispenser and a lollipop.
It's the holiday season once again, and our contributors have left us
presents of appropriately themed routines for family audiences.
Networking with others is always be very useful and the restaurant
business is no exception. This months column addresses aspects of
exchanging ideas, as well as routines for Ring Flite.

telling of tales that accompany your tricks. Gaston tells us the "Three
'I's" of storytelling, and Jörg Alexander teaches a trick that makes
effective use of a Wild West scenario.

Growing up in Finland, Marko Karvo saw magician Johnny Hart presented on
television as "one of the favorite acts of the Lido" in Paris. The Lido
de Paris became his dream, starting him on a 20-year path to starring in
that famous revue, a journey that took him from Finland to FISM to
France, and triumphantly back again.
"Finnish people really love magic!" says Timo Kulmakko, and has proven
his point beyond his associates' expectations. With a successful magic
career of his own, Timo has recently become the producer and guiding
force behind a series of gala shows featuring an international array of
magical talent.
It's Mad Max meets Mardi Gras, an art explosion and survivalist
expedition, fused together with plenty of fire. This is Burning Man, a
week of performance art that springs to life in the desert. If Jeff
McBride describes something as "mind-blowing," you know you're in for
quite a ride.
Reputedly in league with the devil, the nefarious Faust escaped his
captors by enchanting the lock that held him. So goes the tale told by
Karl Germain to accompany his Spirit Lock, a curious prop that has been
passed down through history with a story of its own.
