UPCOMING IN MAGIC...
Vince Carmen and showgirls in Auckland, New Zealand, 1990 tour.
In the mid 1980s, when Vince Carmen heard that New Zealand was a ripe territory for phone-promoted shows, he decided to give it a try. Having developed Wonderland on Parade, a successful phone-marketed family illusion show in the 1970s, and with years of promoting Circus Vargas shows with telephone solicitations, Vince felt he knew the ropes and decided to give it a try. His show with big illusions with tigers, vanishing cars, and a line of showgirls opened on Easter Day 1984 broke all attendance records. He would return to New Zealand 18 times between 1984 and 2000.

Marvyn Roy & Carol had only been married three months when the Mr. Electric Act became an international sensation, and ironically, it was as they played the Lido in Paris, "The City of Light." You won't read about that in the "In his Words" interview with Marvyn next month. So how we know that? It's in the book — Around the World in 50 Years with a Light Bulb... and a Blond.

"Talk About Tricks" next month features two tricks by Martin Lewis, Martin's Oil Opener and Rejected, String & Pencil by Gregg Webb, Nathan's Oil Closer by Nathan Gibson, and the Armador Change by Carlos Amador. Jimmy Nuzzo talks about the Side Steal in "Expertalk."
